Children’s Liturgy of the Word – A Special Invitation for Young Hearts
Children’s Liturgy of the Word is a beautiful opportunity for children ages 4 and up to engage with the Sunday readings in a way that’s meaningful and age-appropriate. During Sunday Mass, children are invited to step away with a catechist after the opening prayer to hear and reflect on the Gospel using the Children’s Lectionary. They return to the main assembly at the time of the collection to rejoin their families.
Children’s Liturgy is offered at the following Mass times:
- Immaculate Conception Parish – Sundays at 10:30 AM
- St. Peter Claver Parish – Sundays at 9:30 AM
- Ss. Cyril and Methodius Parish – Sundays at 8:30 AM

- Be comfortable following a simple lesson plan
- Complete Safe Environment training (required for all catechists)

Catechists typically serve 1–3 times per month, depending on availability. Most spend 2–4 hours per month, including preparation time. Training and resources are provided to support you every step of the way.
