Confirmation: Sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit

What is Confirmation?

Confirmation is the third Sacrament of Initiation in the Catholic Church, following Baptism and First Eucharist. In this sacrament, the baptized are anointed with sacred chrism and sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit. It strengthens their bond with the Church and empowers them to live out their faith with courage and conviction.

Why is Confirmation Important?

Confirmation is a powerful moment of grace and commitment. It:

  • Deepens our baptismal gifts
  • Strengthens our relationship with Christ
  • Equips us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit—wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord
  • Calls us to be active witnesses of the Gospel in our daily lives

Through Confirmation, we are more fully united with the Church and called to participate in its mission of love, service, and evangelization.

Preparation for Confirmation

Preparation for Confirmation typically takes place during middle school or early high school years through our parish’s Religious Education program. It includes:

  • Catechesis on the Holy Spirit and the life of discipleship
  • Opportunities for prayer, service, and reflection
  • Participation in retreats and liturgical celebrations
  • Support from sponsors, families, and the parish community

Our team is here to walk with each candidate and their family on this sacred journey of faith.
