The Sacrament of Baptism
Baptism is the first of the seven sacraments and the foundation of the entire Christian life. Through baptism, we are freed from sin, reborn as children of God, and welcomed into the Catholic Church.
At Sheboygan South Catholic Parishes, we joyfully celebrate this sacred moment with families as they begin their child’s journey of faith. Baptism is not only a personal milestone—it’s a celebration for the entire parish community.
Preparing for Baptism
To help parents understand the meaning and responsibilities of this sacrament, we offer baptism preparation classes. These sessions guide families through:
- The significance of baptism in the Catholic faith
- The structure and symbols of the baptismal rite
- The role of parents and godparents in nurturing a child’s faith
- What to expect on the day of the baptism
Preparation ensures that families are spiritually ready and feel supported every step of the way.
