Immaculate Conception: The Cemetery Committee helps take care of the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. The committee meets four times per year in the Immaculate Conception conference room. Meeting dates and times vary depending upon the committee’s needs. Committee members also cut grass weekly, trim around stones, rake pine needles, pick up branches, and cut down trees when needed. Volunteers should be able to operate small machinery. Some projects may be appropriate for teens. Volunteers can choose how much time they are able to give. • St. Peter Claver: The Holy Cross Cemetery Committee oversees the operation and maintenance of St. Peter Claver’s cemetery and makes recommendations to the Finance Council. The committee helps establish procedures and practices for the sale and recording of lots, mausoleum crypts, and mausoleum niches; for the funding of perpetual care; for grave markers and decorations; and for cemetery visitation. They monitor the cemetery’s financial records and budget, and they keep current with cemetery trends. They also oversee projects such as tree planting and removal, new fencing, and re-sealing the roads. Committee members are selected for their knowledge of cemetery operations or interest in the parish cemetery. The committee meets on the fourth Monday of January, April, July, and October from 4 to 6 pm in Meeting Room One at St. Peter Claver Parish. Most meetings are less than two hours long. • Ss. Cyril and Methodius: The Ss. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery Committee helps make sure Greendale Cemetery is kept in good condition. Committee members do general maintenance for the cemetery as needed. Grass-cutting is hired out to a local group. Members of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery Committee also serve on the Buildings and Grounds Committee. The cemetery committee is required to meet at least four times per year. At this time, the cemetery committee meets with the Buildings and Grounds Committee at 4 pm for 1 to 1.5 hours on the second Tuesday of the month, September through May.
