K–8 Religious Education Catechists form children ages K–8 in the Catholic faith. Catechists should have a basic understanding of Catholic teaching, tradition, and scripture; a desire to grow in and share the Catholic faith; the ability and desire to work with children; and the ability to follow a curriculum. Safe Environment training is required. Catechist training and resources are provided. Catechists teach classes on Wednesdays, September through May, from 4 to 5:30 pm at the Faith Formation Office next to Ss. Cyril & Methodius. Catechists also spend two to four hours per week preparing for class and attend two to three in-service sessions a year. Class times may vary from year to year, depending on the needs of the ministry.
