The Tri-Parish Food Pantry shares food and other supplies with people in need.
Food and Supplies Distribution
The first role is distributing food and supplies. Volunteers for this position must be non- judgmental, cheerful, and welcoming; be able to make small talk; be able to follow instructions on the amount of food that can be provided; be able to provide tips on how to use food items; be able to communicate customer needs and concerns to those running the pantry; and be able to guide student help. Volunteers must be 18 or older. The time commitment is six hours a month on the first and third Mondays from approximately 8 to 11 am in Van Treeck Hall at St. Peter Claver.
Drivers
The second role is a driver to pick up food orders from grocery and other stores. Volunteer drivers must own and operate an insured vehicle with storage space or feel comfortable operating a church vehicle; be able to lift and carry heavy boxes and bags; and be able to bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, and reach. Drivers must be adults. The time commitment is up to four hours each month, with food pick-up usually on the first and third Mondays from 7 to 9 am. Pickup locations include Festival Foods, other stores, and Van Treeck Hall at St. Peter Claver.
