About Mrs. Hylen

My name is Laurie Hylen.  This is my 8th year at Christ Child Academy.  I also teach Physical Education at St. John the Baptist in Plymouth.  Prior to moving to the Sheboygan area, I taught 20 years in the elementary schools in Addison, Illinois.  I graduated from Elmhurst College with my BS in Physical Education and a minor in Geography.  I also obtained my masters in Outdoor Education from Northern Illinois University.  My goal is to instill the importance of having an active healthy lifestyle.  I want my students to find ways to be active throughout their lives.  By teaching them activities where they can succeed, while having fun, I will be able to help them find motivation to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I am active with the middle school youth groups and teach Sunday School, in my church.  I also manage the church garden.  In my spare time, I enjoy being outside gardening, hiking, biking, kayaking, and exploring with my husband, daughter and dog.
