Hello, my name is Kerrie Schmahl. I am the fifth grade teacher at Christ Child Academy. I graduated in December 2000 from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary/Middle School Education and a minor in Social Science.
I began my teaching career at the Random Lake School District working with children with special needs. After that, I joined the Christ Child Academy team as a middle school teacher in 2001 teaching social studies, English, religion and literature. For the next two years, I was the 4th grade teacher. While I truly enjoyed my time with my 4th graders, near the end of the 2005 school year, I made the life altering decision to be a stay-at-home mother. After a year away from teaching, however, a wonderful opportunity arose: the opportunity to teach one day a week as the new computer teacher. I enjoyed my last eight years teaching computers to my students in kindergarten through eighth grade. However, once my children went back to school full time, it allowed me to go back fulltime at Christ Child Academy teaching and guiding my 5th graders!
It is my hope that the skills my students gain from their 5th grade experience will benefit them throughout their lifetime and help them grow into spiritual, productive members of our society. I look forward to interacting with each of my students’ families in the upcoming year.
