Catholic
Schools Week Activities Announced
Super Bowl Cereal Food Drive during Catholic Schools Week January
30 – February 2
The theme of Catholic Schools Week is “Faith. Academics. Service.” -
important words to describe what we at Christ Child Academy are all about. To
expand on our service activity of Salvation Army Bell Ringing, we are accepting
donations of non-perishable breakfast food items in the Super Bowl
Cereal Food Drive. All donations collected will be donated to
the St. Peter Claver Food Pantry. Bring your donations to school during
Catholic Schools Week and place them in the donation barrel. Thank you! -
Jana McDonough and Chris Matysik
Hat and Gum Incentive Day, Food Drive, Penny War and Dress Up days are
some of the things planned for Catholic Schools Week 2012. At the Catholic
Schools Week Masses on 1/28 and 1/29, the children will be reading several
quotes written by classmates detailing why they like attending Christ Child
Academy. Then we kick off the school week with community service and
the beginning of our Super Bowl Cereal Food Drive benefitting
St. Peter Claver food pantry. We will have another Penny War this
year with proceeds going to the Rainbow Kids, Pastor Elijah’s
Orphanage and St. Vincent de Paul. And yes,
there will be dress up days again, and we are adding an extra day! To
build excitement for Catholic Schools Week, there will be a Hat and Gum Incentive
Day on Friday, January 27. What does that mean? If the kids wish
to wear a hat or chew gum during school, they need to pay a quarter to the
CSW fund. If they want to do both things, they pay fifty cents. The
money raised will be donated to the Humane Society. The
remaining dress-up days are:
Monday 1/30 – Pajama Day
Tuesday
1/31 – Crazy Hair Day
Wednesday 2/1 – School Spirit Day (and Mass at St. John the Baptist) – wear
red, white or black shirts.
Thursday 2/2 – Backward Day
Thanks so much for supporting Catholic Schools Week! The kids have so
much fun!

Volunteer Work Hours!
In the flurry of the back to school paperwork, there was a Family Participation
Policy that you signed stating you agreed to complete 20 hours of volunteer
work for the school year. As you are aware, it is imperative that all families
honor this policy. We are tracking the volunteer hours completed per family. This
will help us plan for future volunteer opportunities and time commitments. So
what do you need to do? It’s simple! After each time you complete
volunteer hours, email your volunteer information to: ccaworkhours@gmail.com
The email should include the date, hours
and activity worked.
Example: Joe
and Sue Smith worked on 9/3 at the volleyball game in concessions
from 2-4 for 4 hours total as 2 people worked.
We need all families to email their hours to be added to the database. This
will ensure that you get the credit for all that you do for CCA!

Medication Forms
Please print the three forms if your child requires medication. Forms
should be turned into the office. The Emergency Medication Form
replaces the “Inhaler Form”. This would be for any
medication that the student carries with them or keeps in the
classroom (Inhalers, EPI-pens, glucagon, etc.).
Print all three of these forms:
Physician
form, Emergency
medication form and Parent
consent form

Celebrate
the Good News – Liturgy of the Word with Children
St. Peter Claver Church offers a Service of the Word for Children at
the 10 a.m. Mass on the first and third Sunday of the month, from late September
through early June. All children, ages 4 and older, are called forward
after the Opening Prayer. The children are led out of church by a Word
Facilitator. They gather in the rectory for the Word Service, which includes
liturgical responses led by a cantor. The children will return to the assembly
before the Liturgy of the Eucharist. All children are welcome!

Happy
Campers! I realize snow is right around the corner, but what
better time to think of CCA camping? We have set the weekend for Sept
28-30, 2012 at Kohler-Andrae State Park again. Early notice is required
because we are trying to use the electrical loop as more of a central location
for the pig roast and Fried Food Fest. Therefore, I highly encourage
anyone who is thinking about camping, and wanting an electrical site to make
your reservations now, as the electric sites will fill up fast. Looking
forward to s’more fun! Any questions please contact Jody Paltzer
451-4790.

Sports
Athletic Permit Card Update
The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association requires that
any student participating in an interscholastic sport must have
a green Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association
Athletic Permit Card on file in the school office prior to
practice or participation. A physical exam must be given
every two years. In today’s carrier, we have included an athletic permit for
all the current fourth grade students for participation in 2011-2012
sports. We have also included one for each student whose current
permit expires at the end of this school year. Please
plan now to have your child’s physical exam completed over
the summer months, so they are ready to start the sports season on
time. Thank you!
